Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff – Review

There are numerous books on the subject of positive thinking and I’ve read quite a few. But the one that I keep near me – my bible if you like is “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff (and it’s all Small Stuff)” by Richard Carlson.

If we want to change our lives and obtain freedom, financially or any other way, then we first need to change our mindset. I’m a firm believer that success or failure starts in the mind.

The Author

Richard Carlson Ph.D. was an American psychotherapist, author and motivational speaker. He died in 2006 but not before writing 20 books on the subject of tuning our minds to live a more stress-free and happy life. He also worked as stress counselor for over 10 years.

My Favourote Way To Make Money Online

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff (and it’s all Small Stuff)

Richard Carlson’s 10th book, it was written in 1998 and was his most successful, selling over 10 million copies to date and spending 101 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller List. It was also the book that brought him fame – so he knew a bit about perseverance!

Why I Recommend It.

Having read quite a few pretty intense books on the subject of mindfulness, self-improvement and positive thinking, the thing I like most about Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff (apart from the funky and straightforward title) is it’s simplicity.

In 100 chapters, each no more than 2 pages long, Dr Carlson sets out 100 simple strategies to prepare our minds and change our attitudes in small ways. Each is easy to put into practice and changes how we deal with thoughts and the mind each in a small way.

But if we do only a few of these it makes a big difference to how our mind works. I can’t say I practice all of them all the time (or even some) but because they are so easy to read and to find in the index, It’s great to leave on the coffee table, or in the car and to keep referring to at moments of stress or self-doubt.

Some examples of chapter titles will give you an idea of what I mean:

>”Make Peace with Imperfection”

>”Be Aware of the Snowball Effect of Your Thinking”

>”Lower Your Tolerance to Stress”

>”Practice Being in The Eye of The Storm”

>”Realize The Power of Your Own Thoughts”

I could happily list all 100 chapters, but hopefully you can see what it is that keeps me coming back to this book.

But don’t take my word for it, If you don’t buy any other book on changing your mindset for success this is the one to get. For an investment of less than $10 it’s worth it and is certainly the best I’ve found.

It’s available in all the normal formats and you can get it here:
