My Story
Okay, first things first. This site isn’t about me, it’s about you. So I’m not going to bang on about how I made a million overnight. I didn’t by the way – and I haven’t made a million yet. But I’ve found a way that with hard work and enough time and dedication, anyone with a reasonable degree of intelligence can make a damned good living with an online business.
And the great thing is, you don’t need to be a computer or programming expert. You also don’t need to already know how to build websites or make money on social media. I didn’t until I set off on the path I’m now on.
So if this is enough for you, you can skip the next bit about how I came to be doing what I do.
But if you want to know how I got here and why you should spend your valuable time looking at my website, here goes!
Firstly, before we get to the financial stuff, I’m fanatical about water sports. Windsurfing in my earlier life, but for the past 18 years, Kitesurfing.
Briefly – I spent 25 years as a financial adviser, rising to a pretty high level of success, and spent the last 7 years of that career in private banking. That meant I was advising “High Net Worth” individuals on how to invest their money and stay wealthy.
I loved dealing with successful entrepreneurs, who usually knew everything about the business that made them wealthy, but very little about how to make their money work hard for them after they’d sold the business, usually for 10’s of millions.
I had a great future ahead of me – or so I thought.
And I loved the lifestyle the big salary and bonuses afforded. I was able to go on kitesurfing holidays twice a year and had every weekend off. I had great cars and a nice house.
But I hated working for banks. It was like working for the Mafia (other organised crime syndicates are available), but without the job security!
Then came the Financial Crash of 2007/8. You know the story. The “Fat Cat” investment bankers literally brought the financial world to within an hour of the ATM’s having no money in them.
And then in 2008 I was made redundant. I took a 25% pay cut to get another job in the same profession. And then it happened again in 2010.
With 10,000+ financial advisers looking for a job in the UK, the banks were naming their price. I could’ve taken another 25% cut and stayed in that business. But I couldn’t afford to.
Unfortunately for me (financially but not morally) I wasn’t an investment banker, I hadn’t been trousering £million bonuses. And unfortunately I also hadn’t been giving myself the great advice I gave my clients. I was living a good life and didn’t think the income was going anywhere other than up, so I hadn’t paid down the mortgage or the car loans etc etc.
I also decided I never wanted to work for a large organisation again.
So I tried anything I could find to start a business with no capital and a need for a good level of income so that I could just pay the mortgage and live.
I did a lot of free-lance sales agency, basically commission only selling – On-line credit-control systems, an app for businesses, renewable energy systems. And they were all okay except that a huge amount of time was spent prospecting, making appointments, travelling the length of the country to meet people who often didn’t buy whatever I was selling. And the commissions weren’t coming in quickly enough. So in desperation I did what so many desperate people do, I started driving a taxi.
Then I set up my own airport taxi business – taking people to and from airports. That was a fairly successful business in terms of income, but the cost was time. It was 24/7, working 80 hour weeks just to pay the bills.
And my kitesurfing time took a massive nose-dive!
All the time I was doing this I was constantly trying to find the escape – the business I could run from home or anywhere else. That used my knowledge and skills but allowed me the freedom to do it when I wanted rather than when my customers dictated.
I knew this had to be online.
And I constantly looked at the kind of online schemes that promise fantastic riches overnight. They’re mostly scams.
But at the beginning of 2019 whilst looking at some scheme or other I came across an online training platform that I could see was giving a lot of people a great deal of financial success. I joined it and it has given me the skills and support to create an online business that is able to give me my life back and take the long sought after road to achieving financial freedom.
I’m not there yet but I’m well on the way. And importantly, I know that the way I’m doing it rewards time and work with results and creates a business that can run for as long as I want it to.
Why Am I Sharing This?
I think of my 10 years from 2008 to the end of 2018 as the “Wilderness Years”. Working as a slave to paying the bills and literally feeling like a zombie most of the time.
And I’ve made some big mistakes.
But what I’ve learnt is that those mistakes are part of my experience and not something to be ashamed of. They’re mistakes I won’t make again. And I can use the lessons I’ve learnt to stop other people from wasting years in financial slavery.
So many people spend years working just to pay the bills rather than to live their dream. Just like I did.
But there is a better way. And it’s not just the way I’ve chosen to change my life, there are a lot of great ways to make money on-line, or by re-training to do something that uses skills you might not even realise you have.
And if I can help you find that way I will consider it a privilege.
So What Is The Online Freedom Seeker about?
It’s in the name. I’m the Freedom Seeker, and I’m Online. But so are you, otherwise you wouldn’t have read this far!
Wherever you are on the road to financial freedom, whether you’ve lost a job or a business, and don’t know where to go next, or have already embarked on a course towards realising your dream to be financially free, my aim is to offer advice on how to get your life going the way you want and deserve it to.
I’ll be sharing the way I’ve found to realise my dreams. But I’ll also be exploring and detailing other ways to change your life, either online or not.
But the absolute aim is to head in that direction together and achieve Financial Freedom.
